Toyota Kirloskar Motor (TKM) has now launched the Fortuner and Legender in a Neo Drive 48V avatar, meaning that these are now electrified mild-hybrid variants, whereby the Neo Drive 48V models optimise performance while increasing fuel efficiency, and improving the driving experience. This enhanced powertrain solution represents a segment-first, in premium SUV segment cars. The Neo Drive 48V reinforces Toyota’s focus on innovation, sustainability, and customer satisfaction.
What is New with Neo Drive 48V?
The Neo Drive models are powered by the tried and tested 2.8-litre 4-cylinder turbo-diesel engine. The Neo Drive variants adopt the 48-Volts system, simply meaning an electric powertrain powertrain, in this case with a belt integrated starter generator, along with lithium-ion battery. With this smart mild-hybrid technology, the Neo Drive variants present smoother acceleration, quieter starts, and lower emissions without losing performance or ruggedness.
