ATEC And FPT Forge First Global Partnership To Advance Japan’s Automotive Software Innovation

Vietnamese tech giant FPT and Japanese automotive software company ATEC announced their first joint venture as the companies signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to develop next-generation automotive software solutions and promote sustainable growth in Japan’s advanced automotive ecosystem.

The partnership will be addressed to challenges facing the industry, such as the rising demand for automotive software, and reliance on less qualified professionals in the industry or embedded systems. By combining technological strengths, engineering frameworks, and the collective talents of both companies, FPT and ATEC can deliver high-performance, scalable software solutions. Most notably, our companies will focus on expanding services for leading Japanese OEMs in the areas of AUTOSAR and Software-Defined Vehicles (SDV).

A key element of the collaboration is the launch of a new Offshore Development Center (ODC) in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam. While this center will initially support joint development projects, it is expected to be quickly leveraged and scaled to meet future delivery capacity and talent access.

As the first international alliance in its 36-year history, this unprecedented partnership represents ATEC’s first step towards addressing capacity and demand challenges by increasing development capability. FPT benefits by immediately connecting to ATEC’s established customers and marketplace – a great advantage in Japan’s rapidly changing automotive technology market.

“Automotive remains a key industry in Japan, especially as AI-enabled systems become increasingly integrated into vehicles,” said Do Van Khac, SEVP of FPT Software and CEO of FPT Japan. “By combining FPT’s global expertise and AI based solution, with ATEC’s in-depth knowledge of the automotive industry, we look to create new opportunities and help provide additional value to Japanese OEMs and Tier-1 suppliers.”

Having more than 20 years of automotive experience, FPT is already a trusted partner in automotive OEM, and Tier-1’s all around the world. The company established a dedicated automotive subsidiary in 2023 to serve the increased demand for Software-Defined Vehicles. It has a considerable Japanese footprint: 17 offices and innovation hubs, 4,500 workers in Japan, with over 15,000 professionals offshore supporting the company, and 450 global clients.

FPT exceeded USD 500 million in revenue from the Japanese market in 2024, with a target of USD 1 billion revenue and a Top 15 IT service provider ranking in Japan by 2027.
