Maharashtra EV Policy 2025 Approved: Key Highlights on Subsidies and Infrastructure for Electric Vehicles

The Maharashtra Cabinet has approved the state’s new Electric Vehicle (EV) Policy 2025, aimed at accelerating the adoption of EVs and improving related infrastructure. This comprehensive policy will be effective for five years, from April 1, 2025, to March 31, 2030, and is designed to push Maharashtra toward a goal of 30% EV penetration by 2030.

Key Highlights of Maharashtra EV Policy 2025:

Policy Duration: April 1, 2025 – March 31, 2030

Subsidy Structure:

10% concession on the price of electric two-wheelers, four-wheeler passenger vehicles, three-wheelers, and electric buses.

A higher subsidy of 15% for electric goods-carrying three- and four-wheelers, agricultural EVs, and electric tractors.

Incentives of up to ₹10,000 for 1 lakh electric two-wheelers.

Subsidies of up to ₹1.5 lakh for 10,000 electric passenger cars.

Tax and Toll Exemptions:

Continued exemption from vehicle tax and registration fees for all EVs.

No toll charges for electric passenger vehicles and buses traveling on the Mumbai-Pune Expressway, Atal Setu, and Samruddhi Mahamarg.

Charging Infrastructure Development:

EV charging stations to be installed every 25 km along state and national highways.

All existing fuel stations on these highways to include at least one fast charging point.

Mandatory EV charging-ready parking provisions in all new residential buildings.

This forward-looking policy not only offers substantial financial benefits to EV buyers but also addresses one of the biggest barriers to EV adoption: the lack of charging infrastructure. With a robust implementation plan, Maharashtra is positioning itself as a leading state in India’s transition to clean mobility.
