Nikola Announces Order for 100 Hydrogen-Powered Electric Trucks

Doubling the Previous Order

The announcement follows AiLO’s order for 50 Nikola FCEVs in 2023. Deliveries for the initial order have already begun and will continue throughout 2024.

AiLO plans to incorporate the hydrogen FCEVs into its operations to address the port industry’s increasing demands. The company also expects the vehicles to help enhance its sustainable logistics solutions and expand its drayage division.

FCEV Specs

According to Nikola’s website, its hydrogen-powered fuel cell electric vehicle provides a maximum range of 500 miles with zero tailpipe emissions.

The vehicle’s hydrogen system features a storage capacity of 70 kilograms and a refueling time of 20 minutes or less. Other specifications include a 200-kilowatt fuel cell power module, a 164-kilowatt total battery capacity, continuous 536 horsepower, and a top speed of 70 miles per hour.

In March, Nikola unveiled its first HYLA high-pressure modular refueling station and facility in California. The station can fuel 40 of the company’s FCEVs daily. Nikola plans to operate 14 refueling solutions by 2025.
