The 2025 Honda Civic: Hybrid and Better Tech
It’s been a key piece of Honda’s product catalog for decades, but the automaker still believes there is room for improvement for its Civic model.
Refreshed for 2025, Honda has recently unveiled the updates we can expect and they include four trims, two of which will be hybrid-electric.
After winning the North American Car of the Year Award in 2022 for its 11th-generation model, the company was determined to build on its success. Specifically, refresh features for all trims include four new exterior colors, a more aggressive front fascia, and new taillights that offer a “sharper look.”
Honda also adds that the hybrid-powered trims offer sportier appeal with “a distinct body colored headlamp garnish and front lower spoiler.”
Honda’s plan for this model year is to offer a Civic that’s both powerful and efficient. With 200 horsepower and 232 projected foot-pounds of torque, the automaker says it’s the most powerful Civic ever outside of its high-performance R type.
From an efficiency standpoint, Honda says the two hybrid trims — a standard sport and a touring version — will offer a combined EPA fuel economy of about 50 miles per gallon.
Lance Woelfer, assistant VP of Honda National Auto Sales, calls the models “well timed” considering the growth of hybrids, adding that these Civics will provide Honda “with an important building block toward 100% zero-emissions vehicle sales by 2040.”
Honda says American buyers have purchased more than 12 million Civics since the vehicle hit the market in 1973. In that time, the Japanese automaker has produced more than five million Civics in the United States.
