Toyota Kirloskar Motor Partners With Maharashtra Government To Upgrade School Infrastructure In Bidkin, Chhatrapati Sambhaji Nagar

Toyota Kirloskar Motor (TKM) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Zilla Parishad in Chhatrapati Sambhaji Nagar, related to repairs and infrastructure improvement of the Zilla Parishad Kendriya Prathamik School (ZPKPS) in Bidkin. The MoU demonstrates Toyota Kirloskar Motor’s commitment to inclusive development, and social responsible manufacturing, as well as a planned community integration approach as TKM’s commitment to industrialization continues to grow in Maharashtra.

The ceremony to exchange MoUs took place at the Collector Office and included participants from: senior district officials including Shri Deelip Swami, Collector & District Magistrate, Shri Ankit, CEO Zilla Parishad and officials from the Education Department. TKM was represented by Mr. Sudeep Dalvi, Chief Communication Officer and Senior Vice President, State Affairs, along with senior company executives.

Laying the Footprint for Future

The effort aligns with Toyota’s proposed greenfield manufacturing plant in Maharashtra, reinforcing the company’s position of supporting area development through more than vehicles alone. TKM’s involvement in education exemplifies its history of being a brand that creates value for communities by meeting basic human needs such as literacy, infrastructure, and equitable access to the ability to learn.

ZPKPS Bidkin is a government school over one hundred years old and is currently providing education to over 800 students from economically weaker and diverse backgrounds. With enrolment projected to increase to 1,200 students, the collaboration aims to modernise the campus and expand its capacity. Over a phased three-year timeline (2025–2028), the school will undergo a comprehensive transformation—improving classrooms, learning tools, sanitation, and digital infrastructure to create a future-ready academic environment.

Education at the Centre of Toyota CSR

Education is one of its six core pillars of TKM CSR and is a key element of its “child-to-community” development model. The Toyota model comprises early childhood support, foundational learning, infrastructure improvement, and support for national programmes like Skill India and the National Education Policy (NEP). Through these initiatives, TKM seeks to create equitable outcomes in learning and inspire students to be agents of long-term community change.

Additionally, this program corresponds with Toyota’s idea of “Samuday Vikas,” or community development, impacted through TKM with their continued outreach and work on the ground.

Strategic CSR for a Sustainable Future

Outside of the classroom, TKM’s Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) program was equally impressive, and as of March 31, 2025, TKM’s program had reached over 4.24 million people travelled in India. For the FY 2024-25 alone, TKM had outreach in important domains such as, education, health and hygiene, environmental sustainability, road safety, disaster relief, and skill development, which was complemented by it’s official employee volunteer program, iCARE.

All of the above demonstrates the company’s alignment with important national missions such as Viksit Bharat 2047, Swachh Bharat, and Skill India, as well as with the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). As TKM has expanded into Maharashtra, the company has reinforced the belief that the progress of the automobile industry and its surrounding communities must happen together.

“This initiative marks the beginning of our journey in Maharashtra. By building a strong educational foundation, we are investing not only in infrastructure but in the future of the region,” said Mr. Sudeep Dalvi of TKM. “As we scale our manufacturing footprint, our social investments will remain deeply rooted in our philosophy of ‘Creating Mobility for All’—driving progress for individuals, communities, and the nation.”
